The Lepidoptera Breeders Association is a UK based  privately ran enterprise which supports and promotes the study of Moths and Butterflies by practical hands on interaction. Captive Breeding programmes ensure the survival of many Lepidoptera species both British and Exotic. This practical approach offers the unique chance for all to experience the joy of rearing Moths and Butterflies and in turn promotes conservation, knowledge, education and awareness. LIVESTOCK EGGS / LARVAE / PUPAE

We offer a large selction of livestock which is bred by ourselves or by fellow enthusiasts. Some colonies are available continually others from time to time depending on captive breeding sucess rates. Please note that all species listed are captive bred and NOT taken from the wild.

Tree of Heaven Silkmoth (S.cynthia advena) The Tree of Heaven or Ailanthus Silkmoth (Philosamia cynthia advena - Watson 1912) Wingspan 120-130mm. A medium sized silkmoth. Richly colored in reddish-brown with olive-green and splashes of white,pink and yellow. One of many sub-species from the genus samia cynthia. A long time domesticated silkmoth species having been "Farmed" by humans for millennium. Very easy to rear and recommended for beginners. Similar in looks to a small version of the Atlas moth. LFP.
